Gratitude

In honor of this new site for my blog, I am writing about gratitude. There are so many things to be grateful for when I think about my life since Brain Fit came into it. In the post titled “Thankful”, that I wrote last Thanksgiving, I listed many things that I was thankful for. Today, I continue in that spirit with more gratitude.

The first thing I am grateful for is this blog. When I started this blog last May, I had no idea what was going to happen with it, or what I would end up writing. I just knew that I needed to write. I knew that I needed to get the word out there about all the amazing things that were happening at Brain Fit Academy and tell our “story”.

The second thing I am grateful for is that I can write! When I was teaching, I wrote a blog for a time. I was a technology teacher and wrote mostly about creative things I was doing with technology. That is when I first discovered that I had a writing “voice” and that when I was able write in my own “voice”, that I was actually a pretty good writer! Since then, I have continued to find my voice even more as I have been writing this blog and I thoroughly enjoy it!

The next piece of gratefulness is about knowledge. As I was transferring my blog to this new platform, I had to make multiple edits to the posts, and so I was re-reading them. As I did, I realized just how much knowledge and insight I have gained from being a part of Brain Fit Academy. And- writing this blog has only served to deepen and strengthen that knowledge even more. There were many posts that- as I was writing- I pulled out my manuals or books and used them to help me write the post. Since coming to Brain Fit- first as a parent, and then as a coach- I look at people and the world in a completely different way. I am eternally grateful for that.

I would be amiss if I didn’t mention the kids and families in this post. Of course- without them, Brain Fit wouldn’t be what it is. The chance to meet and work with amazing, beautiful, smart, unique and “full of potential” kids is one of the most rewarding parts of this job. Seeing the smiles, the positive changes, and the upward progression of the clients I have worked with gives me an incredible sense of gratitude. And of course- I can’t forget the parents! The supportive, ever-so-hard-working, incredible parents that love their children so much and want the best for them. They are my inspiration and I hope that I am also theirs.

I am grateful for learning. And I am grateful for how COVID put pretty much every Brain Gym® class online. I have to laugh at that one- because honestly, I never imagined that I would be spending so many hours taking and teaching classes online. But you know what? Having classes online has allowed me to continue the work needed to obtain my full Brain Gym certification (I’m getting really close now!) and it has allowed me to teach Brain Gym 104 class, as well as the Reflex Integration classes and other workshops online. And- because of that, we were able to have people attend from all across the country- very cool and exciting to expand our reach outside of this area. It also- of course, allowed us to continue the adult education part of Brain Fit- so, so important and valuable!

Finally, I am grateful for Pam Formosa. I’ve said it before, and I will say it again. She has been (and continues to be) an incredible mentor to me. She teaches me things daily- both on a professional and personal level. She is the reason Brain Fit is in this world, and she is the reason why we are able to do the things we do. Pam has led the way for so many and I am incredibly proud to work for her company and to follow in her footsteps.

Honestly- I could probably continue this post with even more things to be grateful for. But for now, I’ll stop there.

I’m amazingly grateful, and my heart is full.

Brain Fit Academy has changed my life and I wouldn’t be the same person without it.
